The brand was founded in 2014 by two Ghanaian best friends, Dyllan Ahinful & Jeffrey Mensah. Living together on the same block in the Bijlmer, they started initiating ideas to launch their brand L’ORIGIN3. The name is inspired by their roots. Literally translated as ‘origin’, L’Origine is a subtle reference to their roots, their family and friendship, and the backwards ‘3’ is the letter ε in the Ghanaian alphabet.
Their style brings urban couture and high street fashion together, which in turn creates their own identity. Their pieces vary from basic hoodies to sophisticated trousers.
Their latest collection is named ‘KEKELI:
EWE’ meaning: The light is here: Ewe. The Ewe people have names (Ŋkɔwo) with significant meanings which either portray the spirituality of the parents or the circumstances in which the child was born. By combining the Ewe DNA and the L’ORIGIN3, DNA created the identity for KEKELI: EWE. Some of their differentiating features include heavier pockets, the colour scheme (beige, black and purple), a looser fit and the little flag patch.
