A warm bowl of fresh soup and two beautiful girls who sing like angels. Need I say more?Mrs. Mokum enjoyed the singer-songwriters night “Linke Soep”, hosted once a month at soup paradise De Soepboer.
Seven days a week, De Soepboer is your old-fashioned cosy canteen where you enjoy hot soup and a newspaper. But once a month this so-called soup restaurant is transformed into a groovy bar with live music. The counter where the delicious meals are normally prepared functions as a real stage with surrounded by candles. “Linke Soep” is a night where singer songwriters can show their true colors. At the most recent December edition the pretty girls who form LOLA enchanted us with their Dutch acoustic songs.
“We both have a little flu, so a steaming bowl of soup before our gig is a real treat!” says Hanna from LOLA. De Soepboer serves soup of course, but also homemade pies and meat stews. Mike Lubben started this soup paradise almost two years ago. “We only work with local products, like our coffee: freshly roasted around the corner.” More and more people walk in while LOLA is singing, until the place is packed and the liquor flows freely.
The menu of De Soepboer knows a big variety of flavors: from Charsjo (Georgian tomato beef soup) to French lentil soup. Ludwig von Beethoven once said: “Only the pure in heart can make a good soup.” This phrase applies fully to de Soepboer, where you can taste the love for food and for each other.
